The Belmont Desalination Plant is a key component of Hunter Water's Lower Hunter Water Security Plan, designed to strengthen the region's long-term water resilience through a rainfall-independent water source capable of supplying up to 30 million litres of drinking water per day. Located south of Newcastle, the new facility will support the growing needs of the Lower Hunter community while improving water security during periods of drought and increasing climate variability.

Star Group was engaged by John Holland to deliver the Electrical and Instrumentation package for the project, supporting the construction of this critical piece of water infrastructure. Drawing on extensive experience in the water and wastewater sector, our team is responsible for the installation and integration of electrical and control systems that will enable the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the facility.

Once complete, the Belmont Desalination Plant will play an important role in securing a sustainable water future for the region, providing essential infrastructure that supports communities, industry and future growth across the Lower Hunter
