Forty years. Countless stories. One incredible career.
This year, we celebrate Rick Fewtrell’s 40 years of dedication, growth, and contribution to Star Group—a career that reflects not only the evolution of our business but the industry as a whole.
Starting out after completing his apprenticeship, Rick joined Star Group and quickly became immersed in project work, beginning with the transformation of a wool store in Ultimo into office space. From those early days, he steadily built his experience, taking on greater responsibility and eventually stepping into leadership roles on major projects across Sydney.
Over four decades, Rick has played a key role in delivering some of our most significant projects. From leading teams on the fast-paced Broadway Shopping Centre development, where tight deadlines and long hours paid off, to managing the Parramatta Justice Precinct, which at the time was one of the largest and most complex projects undertaken by Star Group.
Rick has witnessed firsthand the industry's transformation, from paper drawings and fax machines to the highly connected, technology-driven environments we operate in today. Through it all, his steady approach and commitment to the job have never changed.
When asked what has kept him with Star Group for so long, Rick's answer is simple:
“I’ve never believed the grass is greener on the other side. I never had a reason to leave.”
It’s this loyalty, consistency, and grounded mindset that define Rick’s career and continue to set the standard for those around him.
His advice for those starting out?
“Be there and care.”
Congratulations, Rick, on an outstanding 40-year career. Your contribution to Star Group is something we're incredibly proud to celebrate!
