Our Board of Directors is responsible for the corporate governance of Star Group and its entities, with the objective of ensuring the long-term sustainability and growth of the Group for the benefit of our employees, clients, and the communities we operate in.

Star Group has also established an Advisory Board to provide counsel on business performance, risk management, and strategic opportunities. The Advisory Board includes three external members with an exceptional blend of construction, business, financial and governance expertise obtained in a variety of c-suite and non-executive positions in private and public companies.

A civil engineer by profession, Jim is the son of the Star Group's founder, the late John Andrews. Joining the business 35 years ago as a project engineer, Jim sustains and extends his father's strengths and vision by designing and implementing the growth strategies that have forged Star Group's leadership status today. Jim continues to look for new opportunities and talent to ensure the continued leadership and reputation of Star Group and its employees.

John holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Economics & Finance) and Master of Commerce (Business Strategy) with Distinction from the University of New South Wales.

Jade has been a Director of Star Group since 2018 and was appointed as the Group General Manager in 2020. Jade completed his electrical apprenticeship with Star Group, following in his father Geoff Coleman's footsteps. He has since held roles such as Project Manager and ACT Branch Manager, where he successfully grew the ACT Branch over ten years, delivering challenging regional projects while developing several key client relationships. This saw him advance into the role of Regional Director, further developing Star's regional capabilities, relationships and delivering successful projects. As Group General Manager, Jade is now responsible for developing the business on a broader scale, ensuring continued growth, strong client relationships and client satisfaction.

Sandy Nugara

  • Group Director

Formerly an apprentice of Star Group, Sandy is now responsible for control and management, industrial relations and training. Upon completion of his apprenticeship, Sandy gained further valuable and highly relevant experience with the NSW Department of Health, where he managed the rollout of IT technologies and data centre consolidation, before returning in 2005 as Operations Manager. Sandy was made a Director in 2016.

Formerly an apprentice of Star Group, Sandy is now responsible for control and management, industrial relations and training. Upon completion of his apprenticeship, Sandy gained further valuable and highly relevant experience with the NSW Department of Health, where he managed the rollout of IT technologies and data centre consolidation, before returning in 2005 as Operations Manager. Sandy was made a Director in 2016.

Before joining Star Group, he spent 19 years with FDC as Head of Finance and Director, where he played a pivotal role in strengthening the organisation's financial functions, governance systems, and technology evolution. Peter brings deep sector expertise and a strong track record in financial strategy, operational governance, and organisational performance. His appointment demonstrates Star Group's commitment to disciplined financial stewardship, sustainable growth, and a culture-aligned leadership team.

David's ability to forge long-standing relationships with clients is a testament to his professional integrity, deep industry knowledge, exceptional problem-solving skills, and outstanding people management capabilities. His tenure at Lipman Group, serving as Construction Director and later as Managing Director, was marked by strategic growth initiatives such as business acquisitions and the opening of new regional offices. These initiatives showcased his leadership in expanding company footprints and enhancing operational capabilities. As Managing Director of Cornerstone, David contracts to the Property and Construction Industry providing a broad range of strategic project and business planning services.
